Once upon a time...
...there was a hamlet halfway between Méribel and Courchevel, called La Tagna, which meant “the Bear’s dwelling”, a reference to the bears that lived in the Tarentaise forest until the start of the 20th Century... |  |
They suddenly disappeared in the 30’s, no doubt hunted down by the mountain folk through fear. Near this little hamlet, on a beautiful day in 1990 (the 22nd December), came into being a ski resort soon to be baptised La Tania.
The town hall people had thought of erecting a resort in this area since the 70’s, that is why they had a long time to think and to learn from the mistakes others had made.
Jacques LABRO, an architect of renowned talent (Silver medal in 1968 for the resort of Avoriaz) and his team worked hard to
preserve this beautiful location by using
perfectly integrated constructions, using wood and traditional materials whereverit was possible.
